The 5th annual Tonneson + Co’s 5K run/walk benefiting the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry’s Kids First program was a great success again this year! Approximately 160 people ranging in age from 6 to 76 registered for the race and enjoyed the lovely weather as they ran or walked around our beautiful Lake Quannapowitt. While we are tallying the final numbers for money raised, we expect the race to surpass last year’s total of nearly $6500. And, if you’d like to get the race results, please visit: https://my.racewire.com/results/33614.
It’s that time of year to Stamp Out Hunger! Please mark your calendars for the annual National Letter Carrier Food Drive, Stamp Out Hunger, to be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Every second Saturday in May, letter carriers in more than 10,000 cities and towns across America collect the goodness and compassion of their postal customers, who participate in this national food drive — the largest one-day food drive in the country. This drive is one of the easiest ways to support the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry (WIFP). The concept behind the drive is simple: you leave non-perishable food donations at your mailbox—and the letter carriers take care of the rest. The National Letter Carriers Association collects millions of pounds of food to help restock food banks, pantries and shelters around the country.
