THE WAKEFIELD INTERFAITH FOOD PANTRY THANKS SENTINEL BENEFITS & FINANCIAL GROUP FOR COLLECTING OVER 2,000 POUNDS OF FOOD AND THEIR GENEROSITY IN GIVING

Sentinel Benefits & Financial Group completed a highly successful annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry (WIFP) and other organizations close to the company’s offices in Manhattan and Long Island, NY.

Sentinel made the drive into a “competition” among their associates. Teams of thirty competed for bragging rights with a casual day and an additional paid day of volunteer service on the line for the winners. The results were amazing with over 2,000 pounds of food collected!

Vice President of Business and Community Development Michael Newhall noted that the competition was an idea that came out of its Sentinel Cares program committee.  “Team captains emerged as enthusiastic leaders and the good-natured competition struck a chord that fits our culture of service and helping others,” said Newhall.  “Nobody imagined that we would collect close to 2,000 cans of vegetables and 500 boxes each of stuffing, quick bread and potato mix. The competition brought out the best in everyone and fostered a sense of camaraderie in each of our offices. The real winners are the clients served by the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry”.

“This is a prime example of the business community partnering with us to help our Wakefield neighbors in need,” commented Maureen Miller, Director of WIFP. “During this season of giving, we are grateful for such generosity from Sentinel.”

Sentinel has called Wakefield home for the past two years and is proud to have supported the food pantry and other local organizations. The company’s Sentinel Cares program continues to engage employees in outreach efforts that promote awareness and impact the lives of those in need where they live and work. So far in 2016, Sentinel employees have completed 975 hours of volunteer service with non-profit organizations throughout the North Shore and Boston in addition to New York.
