The 4th annual Tonneson + Co’s 5K run/walk benefitting the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry’s Kids First program was a great success! Approximately 200 people ranging in age from 6 to 76 registered for the race and enjoyed the beautiful weather as they ran or walked around Lake Quannapowitt. The overall fastest male, Alex Demeule, finished the race in 17:53 and the fastest female, Samantha Wilkinson, finished in 20:03. Thanks to generous sponsors and fantastic participants, approximately $6500 was raised for the Kids First Program!
The Kids First Program provides food to families with school age children during the summer months. Many families receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch during the school year, but this help is not available during the summer. The Kids First Program provides the added food items to help replace those meals.
“This is a great event organized by Tonneson + Co. The funds raised benefit some of the more vulnerable people who experience food insecurity – our kids,” commented Maureen Miller, Director of Operations for the Food Pantry. “We are profoundly grateful to Tonneson + Co., the sponsors, our volunteers, and participants for keeping this successful, family friendly event going year after year!”
Special thanks go to our sponsors: Eastern Bank, Sentinel Benefits & Financial Group, Zampell Companies, Wakefield Cooperative Bank, AccuRounds, Inc., Wachusett Brewing Company, Doble LeBranti Financial Group, East Boston Savings Bank, and The Savings Bank, as well as the other businesses that donated food or raffle items for the race. Their support is greatly appreciated.
Let’s look forward to the 5th annual Tonneson + Co 5K in July 2017!
