It’s with great appreciation that we thank Beth Israel Senior Citizens Housing, Inc. (BISCHI) in Malden for their generous donation of $25,000 to our food pantry to help us purchase a refrigerator and freezer to benefit our Wakefield neighbors in need. With this new equipment, we are now able to store fresh produce and meats which allows our clients to cook healthier and heartier foods without relying solely on canned food items. For example, the walk-in freezer allows us to buy much more food in bulk and purchase items such as turkeys for the holiday season because we now have the space to keep them.
BISCHI is a non-profit agency and 501(c) (3) charity that is involved in various forms of community housing for both elderly and adults with disabilities. In addition, the organization has decided to focus on charitable efforts to meeting the capital needs of area food pantries and soup kitchens in Eastern Massachusetts. With the help of the Greater Boston Food Bank, BISCHI was able to identify the Wakefield Interfaith Food Panty as one of their chosen food pantries and with their donation has enabled us to improve our pantry and what we can offer to our neighbors who need a helping hand.
Once again, thank you BISCHI for choosing our food pantry and sharing your generosity and compassion.
